Have you survived a natural disaster with your family?

Growing up our family survived an Earthquake. We live in Southern California and in Janurary of 1994 at 4:30am, the magnitude of the Earthquake was a 6.7 causing a lot of power outages, structural damages to homes, businesses and apartment complexes. I remember being out of school for two weeks and how long it took power and stuff to come back. We were lucky enough to still have water. We've had a few after shocks since then, but nothing huge.
