High expectations leading to great devastation....?

I used to be a very cheerful person, and for similar reasons I have found devastation. Since you ask how to change your attitude, I can say there is two specific ways I changed from a not so cheerful person to a cheerful one: I only preferred Heavy metal, and accidentally tuned to a heavy metal christian station. After I realized it was Christian metal, it was too late, I was already in the midst of change. That station later sold. I had to find something else. I found 3: WAY-FM, AIR1, and KLOVE. The first 2 play something a bit heavier than KLOVE, but none were as heavy as the station that hooked me. All these station are on the WEB and have a live feed. If you surround yourself with the continual message that says you are loved, if you listen to the lyrics, you will find, they are singing your story for God's glory. I found a way to do my best in everything- for others, not myself. When devastation came, I realized I will rise to the top of my game once again, because God wants me there. The ultimate answer is: He wants me all to himself, so I wont turn away, and instead continue to give myself to others, just as His Son did. That means: not living for ourself, but others. The World is changing, and this is not a popular idea, it brings more pain, more suffering, but the angels smile and sing in amazement that we have figured out the meaning to life. God's Word is the way. Christ is the way. Stay in the Word, and it will move you past the darkness of devastation, and into the light of His Glory. I'm not a bible thumper, but I believe now and have started reading.
